NGO Support and Monitoring Program

              
TSO team is supporting and monitoring different NGOs funded by Fondation de France. By doing site visits, the team is able to provide assistance.

The following are the list of NGOs along with the details of the program:


ENFANCE NEPAL

Project Title: Implementation of mixed used shelters in Khokana




The village of Khokana, located at 5km south of Kathmandu ring-road, has less than 5000 inhabitants and 30% has less than 20 years old. It was an architectural treasure of Newari culture. The lifestyle based on agriculture is ancestral and Khokana is also called « The living museum ».
According to a publication of National Statistics Office published in 2014, 25% of Khokana population is illiterate and 8% reached the intermediate level of education. The mediocre
security conditions which were applying before the earthquake had been worst since, and the population has been forced to assure his own protection.


PLANET ENTANTS

Project Title: Education, Protection and Livelihood in earthquake-affected areas





In the aftermath of the 25th April and 12th May earthquakes that affected 8 million people in 14 districts, Planète Enfants and its partner NGO Shakti Samuha decided to work in 8 VDCs in Nuwakot (Balkumari, Ralukadevi, Samundradevi, Samundratar, Shikharbesi, Sundaradevi, Thaprek, Urleni) after consulting district and local authorities, schools, communities and many other stakeholders to develop a relevant and consistent intervention in the areas of education, protection and livelihood.


TRIANGLE GH-ARSOW

Project Title: Post-Earthquake Emergency Response in Nepal - Recovery and economical boost



The targeted zone is Kavrepalanchok district, village of Koshidekha, Karethok and Sattighar. In Koshidekha, for instance, 496 on 535 houses are collapsed or severely damaged(93%). Hygiene and sewage infrastructures destroyed, water access infrastructures severely damaged, especially after
the second Earthquake of May 12th. Structurally vulnerable livelihood means are even more fragile.


NACCFL

Project Title:  Emergency Response Program for Earthquake Victims of Small Farmers Agriculture Cooperatives (SFACL) of five district of NEPAL 

On April 25, 2015 at 11: 56 AM, Nepal was shocked by powerful earthquake with magnitude of 7.9 Richter scale. The entire nation is under the state of shock. The preliminary reports shows that more than 8,700 peoples have died and more than 20000 are reportedly injured. 95 percent member SFACLs in the highly affected districts lost their house and now they are residing in either tent or temporary shelter.
In the proposed VDCs of 5 districts, the earthquake has destroyed/hampered all the sources of livelihood and other economic activities. Members were engaged in agriculture, poultry and livestock activities. These were primary sources of income for them to contribute to family expenses.
After the earthquake, members are dependent on relief provided by various organizations but as soon as the relief activities stop then there will be no such source of income generation.


CSRC

Project Title: Nepal Earthquake Recovery though Construction of Community Centres

 The earthquake in Nepal on 25 April 2015 has destroyed 288,798 houses and damaged 254,112. A District-wise data of DDRC shows that the estimated population directly affected by destroyed houses in Sindhupalchok is 273,976, accounting for 95.9% of the total district population (Ministry of Home Affairs). The district ranks first in the whole Nepal for its scale of damages to buildings and lost lives caused by the earthquake. In total 63885 houses (95.79%) out of 66,688 were completely collapsed.
Sindhupalchok has two municipality and 68 VDCs. The target VDCs, Helambu and Kiul were selected because of their remoteness and prevailing poverty.


Jagaraan

Project Title: Recovery support to  earthquake affected people


 Nepal was struck by a devastating earthquake on 25 April 2015 with 7.8 Magnitude Richter Scale and multiple aftershocks therafter, severely affecting Kathmandu and other districts. The epicenter was Barpak, Gorkha. After 17 days, a second major earthquake occurred on 12 May 2015 with a magnitude of 6.9. The epicenter was in the border of Dolakha and Sindhupalchowk.
The tremor caused fresh landslides, and destroyed some buildings which survived the first quake. Within hours of the quake, tents began to fill open areas of the city as residents were afraid to go back inside.
The hard hit districts are reported to be Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchowk, Kavre, Ramecchap, Makwanpur, Dolakha, Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga and Sindhuli. Many buildings, temples and monuments have collapsed and landslides and avalanches have destroyed many villages in rural areas.




Global Reconstruction Project, Sindupalchok






Association for Rural Social Welfare Nepal (ARSOW Nepal) has been working in integrated ways in order to support earthquake victims. Sindhupalchok is the district with worst affect of earthquake with massive loss in life and properties.  ARSOW Nepal from just after the devastation serving in its ability and now implementing a  program with huge ambition of resettlement and restoration of social infrastructures and community life in support of FDF, ASF/A&D.  The program is a integrated program including all aspects of community life, such as; livelihood, psychosocial, and all. Hence ARSOW is working with many other (Local and expert) organizations to achieve the optimum goal of the project. The program has completed relief phase and now running on planning phase of reconstruction. Many quires, conflicts, challenges, questions, ideas and solutions are getting through the community planning operation.
